Educating and preparing our travelers is a priority for us. Your Pre-Departure Briefing will arrive approximately two months prior to your trip. The material will inform you on how to best prepare for your trip, what to bring, what to leave home and what to expect. It will be accompanied by further material that will help you prepare for your Travel Experience.
- Trip Deposit, Cancellation & Refund Policy
We understand how disappointing it is for travelers in the event they are forced to cancel their trip, especially one they have been looking forward for a long time. And, we too, plan for these adventures for quite a long period prior to departure and continuously send non-refundable payments to hotels and suppliers of transportation. Therefore, we must strictly adhere to our Cancelation & Refund Policy for all travelers – we hope you understand. We strongly suggest purchasing travel insurance in case of cancellation. The following are cancellation policies for our travel experiences:
– All cancellations must be made in writing.
– All cancellations processed before 90 days prior to departure require a $500 cancellation fee per person. Some of our trips have non-refundable deposits. Please refer to specific travel experience to learn which are non-refundable.
– Exceptions to our cancellation policy cannot be made for any reason, including weather, terrorism, civil unrest or personal emergencies. There is no refund for arriving late or leaving a trip early. Private room and internal air charges are considered part of the total trip cost and are subject to cancellation fees.
– The schedule for cancellation fees are as follow:
– 89 – 55 days before departure: require a loss of 50% of entire program fees including extensions.
– Less than 54 days: require a loss of the entire fee.Tread Light Travels experiences are guaranteed to run once 4 or more guests book. Tread Light Travels is not responsible for expenses that are incurred in preparation for any canceled trips, such as airline tickets, or for costs that are incurred due to travel delays, flight cancellations or illness.
- Unexpected Costs
The cost of delays is not included if any trip has to be delayed because of bad weather, trail conditions, road conditions, transportation delays, government intervention, sickness for which Tread Light Travels or its agent cannot make provision. Tours costs are subject to increase without prior notice, even if you have signed up on the trip and paid in full. We publish our prices well in advance of departure, often more than half a year in advance. Between that time and the time of the trip’s actual departure, we are occasionally faced with significant cost increases that we cannot absorb, i.e., international currency fluctuations and increases in costs of services overseas. We regret should such a situation occur, but sometimes it is unavoidable.
- Travel Insurance
We strongly suggest purchasing travel insurance, so we have contracted to provide to our guests travel insurance with some of the most comprehensive benefits possible. Because we must send your payment to suppliers well in advance of our departure dates, we cannot offer refunds beyond those described in our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
We encourage singles to join our trips! Travelers who would prefer a single room (not available on some trips or portion of some trips) may have one at a single-room surcharge. We cannot always guarantee single accommodations even after reservations and confirmations have been made. We apologize for having to charge the single-room fee; it is just that our program costs are based on two people sharing the expense of a hotel room. We will be happy to attempt to make a roommate match for those who choose. To accommodate our single travelers, we have made a concerted effort to keep our single supplement fees as low as possible.
- Included in Our Trips
Unless otherwise noted in the included section, all of our trips include accommodations, most meals, services of Tread Light Travels professional Expert Guide (s), transportation within the trip, airport transfers Day 1 and final day, permits and parks fees while on the trip.
